Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has been reporting for over 45 years, focusing on suffering of people in conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry covered the conflicts that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist and television news reporter and anchor who is most famous for her work as a reporter on the Today show, a news morning program that was broadcast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry gained notoriety for her reporting of natural disasters and humanitarian crises that occurred within war-torn areas. Curry was born in Japan and raised by an Japanese mom. Her father was an U.S. Navy sailor. After World War II, her parents met while her father was serving in Japan. They were frequently on the move because of the service of her dad in the military. Curry completed high school within Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. When she was a young woman she had the privilege of being exposed to diverse different cultures. She has a compassionate view of the world is likely due to her experience. Curry could not attend one school in San Diego, Alameda Oregon, or Virginia for two years due to her family was constantly moving. Curry graduated with honors from Ashland High School. Her career in broadcasting began with an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she eventually became the first female journalist at the station. In Portland, Oregon she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW NBC's affiliate. Four years later she moved to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. She received two Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
